what is server ? Explain the types of server ?

Server :-                                                                                                                                                  

It is a powerful computer of a network which provides services to other computer of the network and helps to moniter and manage network .

The main function of a server in a network is to provide information which a user wants . e.g. when you search something on a search engine then through google it is updated in the server of other countries .

In client-server network server comouter is used . In server computer server edition of operating system is installed .

Types of server :-                                                                                                                                   

According to the work of a network , server is server is divided as follows :-

1.FTP server

2.Web server

3.DNS server

4.Messaging server

5.Database server

6.Mail server

7.Proxy server etc .

1. FTP server :-                                                                                                                                       
It is a type of server which is used to upload , download and manage a files in a network .

This server works through FTP protocol.

e.g. to upload or download a file in facebook , whats app , twitter , linkdin FTP server is used .

2.Web server :-                                                                                                                                      
It is a server which stores data of a website of internet, this server is connected with web browser . whenever a user request to see a data then web server connects the data from the website with users computer or device and like this user can exchange data .

3.DNS server :-                                                                                                                                      
The server which is used to manage Domain name , IP Address of a network that server is called as DNS server . Domain name is translated to IP address and IP address is translated to domain name using this server .

4.Messaging server :-                                                                                                                          
A messaging server is a middleware program that handles messages that are sent for use by other programs using a messaging Application Program Interface (API). A messaging server can usually queue and prioritize messages as needed and saves each of the client programs from having to perform these services .

5.Database server :-                                                                                                                              

A server that does work related to databases means to store data , to retrieve data , to backup data and to restore data is called as Database server .

6.Mail server :-                                                                                                                                       

A server that does work related to email e.g. to receive e-mail , to store e-mail , to send e-mail is called as mail server . This server work using various protocols e.g SMTP ( Simple Mail Transfer Protocol ) , POP protocol ( Post Office Protocol ) .

7.Proxy server :-                                                                                                                                    
Proxy server is a server application or appliance that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from servers that provide those resources
