WHAT IS A PROCESSOR?????
A CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT commonly known as CPU interchangeably called PROCESSOR is one of the main functional unit in majority of electronics you own. But for gross knowledge the CPU of computer is of most importance and it performs the function of analyzing, processing, computing and execution of the inputs given to computer .
WHAT DOES A PROCESSOR LOOKS LIKE ?????
As far as looks are considered common forms that we see today is of small semi-metal chip composed of a varying no. of golden dots or golden pins,
but their present look are after a large era of evolution, at first they looks like most of the men today, bulky and fat. with the advancement of technology they are getting slimmer, smaller, faster and easy to use.
HOW IT IS BUILT ???
CPU are built by placing billions of microscopic transistors onto a single computer chip. Those transistors allow it to make the calculations it needs to run programs that are stored on your system’s memory. They are effectively minute gates that switch on or off, thereby conveying the ones or zeros that translate into everything you do with the device, be it watching porn, or writing an love mails.
HOW DOES IT WORKS ???
The main function of the CPU is to execute a series of stored instruction, these stored instruction are usually the program's that we install on a computer or device. All these instructions are stored in any kind of computers memory.
Nearly all the CPU performs its function through instruction cycle.
Steps of instruction cycle :-
- FETCH
- DECODE
- EXECUTE
The executed instruction can involve basic arithmetic, comparing no. or moving them around in memory. Everything in a computing device is represented by no. those simple tasks equate to what CPU does. These instructions are being given to CPU by any mechanical strokes, installed programs, or through general coding etc.
The processor in a personal computer or embedded in small devices is often called a microprocessor. That term means that the processor's elements are contained in a single IC chip. Some computers will operate using a multi-core processor a chip containing more than one CPU.
A CPU is typically a small device with pins on it facing down in a motherboard. CPU can also be attached to a motherboard with a heat sink and a fan to dissipate heat.
WHATS WRITTEN IN PROCESSOR BOX ????
- CORES - CPU is also interchangeably known as core it depends upon the CPU you use if the single metal chip has more than 1 CPU within it, known as multi-core modern CPU consists of multiple cores that allow it to perform multiple instructions at once, thus effectively increasing multitasking and reducing power consumption. Nowadays as huge as 16 core CPU can be seen.
- MULTI-THREADING - Some processors also employ a technology called multi-threading. Imagine a single physical CPU core that can perform two lines of execution (threads) at once, thereby appearing as two “logical” cores on the operating system end. These virtual cores aren’t as powerful as physical cores, but they do share the same resources. Overall, they can help improve the CPU’s multitasking performance when running compatible software.
- CLOCK SPEED - Clock speed is another number that’s highly advertised with CPU— the “gigahertz” (GHz) figure quoted on product listings. It effectively denotes how many instructions a CPU can handle per second .
IS PROCESSOR OF MOST IMPORTANCE ????
Although CPU plays the significant role in running a device but it can not handily improves the overall performance of the computer since its responsible for executing instruction within programs the faster the CPU the faster many programs operate.
For conclusion the CPU is not everything but its of great importance, other equally important components of computer assembly are as follows :-
- RAM
- MOTHERBOARD
- GPU (GRAPHIC CARD)
- STORAGE (SSD OR HDD)
- POWER SUPPLY UNIT
- SYSTEM COOLING
