Personal memory of CPU is called as Cache Memory . This type of memory helps CPU to execute programmes . The size of this Cache memory is very less but the speed of this memroy is faster than any other memory .
In present times , The work speed of processor is very fast than that of RAM , so there is large difference between the work speed of this two memories . So to reduce the difference between these two memories Cache Memory is introduced .
Cache memory is the fastest memory which is present either in CPU ( processor ) or is directly connected with the CPU ( processor ) . This memory works in between CPU ( processor ) and RAM .
Function of Cache Memory :-
Cache memory works as a Buffer between Processor and RAM . Cache memory stores the data and information which is needed by processor , when it is needed . Cache memory increases the working speed of computer .
What is the size of Cache memory ?
The size of cache memory is very less . The the speed of data transmission is very fast . The size of cache memory ranges between 256 KB ( kilobyte ) to 4 MB ( megabyte )
What is the need of cache memory ?
There is a large difference between to access the data in RAM and to process a data in processor due to which CPU is connected to high speed memory ( i.e. cache memory ) . This high speed memory is used to store data and information which CPU is going to use at the time of execution . Cache memory is used in computer to improve the execution power of CPU .
