What is COAXIAL cable ? What is Thinnet and Thicknet Coaxial Cable ?

COAXIAL CABLE :-
It is an old legacy transmission cable . This cable is cheap in cost . Coaxial cable is a type of copper cable specially built with metal shield and other components of this cable is made to block signal intereference .

This cable has four layers :-
A-Innermost one is the copper wire
B-After copper wire is insulation wire
C-Then it is copper mesh or copper net .
D-The outermost one is outside insulation which is made up of PVC i.e. Poly Venyl Chloride .

NOTE :-
Copper net or copper mesh helps to absorb the noise and hence helps in sending the data securely .

Types Of Coaxial Cable :-
Coaxial Cable can be divided into two types @ Thinnet Coaxial Cable (b) Thicknet Coaxial Cable

Fig . ThickNet & ThinNet Coaxial Cable .

@ Thinnet Coaxial Cable :-
This cable is very flexible , this cable is cheap and easy for installation . Core of Copper wire in this cable is almost 0.25 inches ( 0.65 mm ) . This cable can transmit data upto 180 m or 160 feet .

(b) Thicknet Coaxial Cable :-
Core of copper wire in this cable is 0.5 inches . It can tranmit data for upto 500 m or 1650 feet .
This cable is also called as STANDARD ETHERNET CABLE . This type of cable is used to create wide network by connecting small LAN network created by Thinnet Coaxial Cable .
