What is PSU ( Power supply Unit ) ?

PSU :- ( Power Supply Unit )
It is also called as SMPS which is Switch Mode Power Supply . It is a hardware of computer that helps to supply all the other component of computer with power . This cknverts the power supply from AC current into steady low-voltage DC current .

Location of Power Supply Unit ( PSU ) :-
The power supply unit commonly known as SMPS is installed in the back of the computer usually at the top in a desktop computer .

Components to which power supply unit supplies power :-
Everything which is present inside the CPU cabinet generally got power supply by this Power Supply Unit which includes Motherboard , videocard , RAM , Harddisk , disk drives , etc . 
Other external devices get power supply with their own cable or plug and some of them e.g. keyboard , mouse , etc got power via USB cable which is connected to the USB port which is present in the CPU cabinet and got power from this Power Supply Unit .

Does the Fan inside PSU spins always ?
So , the answer is yes . The fan inside the PSU must spin always . If they are not spinning then there can be only two reason and are as follows :-

(i) Either the computer is being turned off .

(ii) The PSU fails to work and it should be replaced in order to turn computer on .
